The Dutch Hoofdklasse continued with three games on Thursday with the fourth matchup between UVV and the ADO Lakers getting postponed to Friday. It is the last game day prior to the World Port Tournament.
The Vaessen Pioniers edged out L&D Amsterdam 3-2. Mark Duursma drove in Danny Rombley with a single in the first to give the team from Hoofddorp an early lead. Rombley and again Duursma extended the gap to three runs with two more RBI singles in the third. Amsterdam was able to cut the deficit to a run with RBI singles by Kenny Berkenbosch and Michael Duursma, but weren’t able to turn the score around. Josh Rickards got the win, pitching 6 2/3 solid innings. Rob Cordemans issued three runs on seven hits to take the loss.
Corendon Kinheim celebrated a 5-0 shutout over Mampaey The Hawks. Nick Veltkamp conceded four hits and three walks in seven scoreless innings. Jean Paul Gulinck and Pim Walsma closed out the five-hitter. At the plate Ramiro Balentina led the way, going 2-for-4 with a bases-clearing double. Rene Cremer scored twice. Ronald de Bont took the loss.
Mr. Cocker HCAW lost 2-4 to DOOR Neptunus in the third game of the day. The club from Rotterdam took the lead with a two-run third and held on to it until the end. Gianision Boekhoudt went deep. Benjamin Dille doubled twice, scored once and drove in a run. Gyuenuar Lopez scored twice. Orlando Yntema gave up only an unearned run on five hits and a walk to pick up the win after five innings. Tony Kreisel nearly matched the Dutch national teamer in 4 1/3 frames, allowing five hits, two runs and three base on balls to take the loss.
