Australia scored four runs in the top of the tenth inning to beat Curacao 8-4 on Monday evening at the Honkbalweek Haarlem. In front of an attendance of 1,100 at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem, Netherlands the team from Down Under erased deficit of 0-3 and 3-4 en route to extra innings.
In the tenth with runners placed on first and second with the extra inning rule in effect they loaded the bases with no outs and plated four with a pair of RBI singles and two bases loaded walks. Curacao couldn’t answer and Australia remained undefeated in three games.
Former Major Leaguer Trent Oeltjen doubled twice and scored two runs. Aaron Sookee conceded two hits and a run in three innings of relief for the win. Jonathan Balentina got charged with the loss.
On Tuesday two games are scheduled at the 28th Honkbalweek. In the afternoon Curacao is back on the field against Chinese Taipei. In the evening the Netherlands take on Japan.
