The best-of-seven Holland Series is back tied 2-2 after L&D Amsterdam beat DOOR Neptunus 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in front of 1,000 people in Ookmeer. It was the show of Rob Cordemans, who struck out ten batters in 8 2/3 innings. He allowed just three hits, a run and two walks, while throwing 124 pitches.
Only three Neptunus batters reached base against the right-hander in the first eight innings: Jeff Arends on an error in the fifth, Raily Legito on a walk in the seventh and Dwayne Kemp with a single in the eighth. However Rotterdam nearly came back in the ninth, but Al Morales got Danny Rombley to ground out with runners on first and second.
The Pirates already took the lead on a RBI double by Wesley Connor in the third and later added runs on a RBI double by Kenny Berkenbosch in the fourth and Connor’s solo shot in the seventh. Neptunus only managed a ninth-inning run when Legito drove in Shaldimar Daantji with a two-out single.
