Curacao Neptunus has won the Dutch Hoofdklasse 2016. They defeated L&D Amsterdam 4-3 in game six of the best-of-seven Holland Series on Saturday afternoon to claim their fourth consecutive championship and their 17th overall.
Rotterdam took a 2-0 lead when Raily Legito drove in Dwayne Kemp with a double in the fourth and later scored on an error by Amsterdam’s catcher. Randolph Oduber extended the advantage with a RBI single in the fifth.
However the Pirates tied the game in the seventh, keeping their hopes alive to reach a game seven. Rashid Gerard and Michael Duursma came through with a two-run double and RBI single to make it 3-3.

Remco Draijer and Gilmer Lampe then threatened to tie the game for Amsterdam in the ninth, reaching second and third with two outs. Nick Urbanus stepped to the plate and struck out swinging on three pitches to end the game.
