Herts Falcons to compete in National Baseball League South in 2009

Posted on November 12, 2008 by philipp

The British National Baseball League South might see an increased team lineup in 2009. The HERTS FALCONS, which won the AAA championship in 2008, received a spot at the top level from the British Baseball Federation. The club accepted the invitation to bring the total of NBL South teams to five. The LONDON METS, RICHMOND FLAMES, CROYDON PIRATES and BRACKNELL BLAZERS are going to be the opponents for the FALCONS.

However not everything is perfect in Baseball in the United Kingdom. In the NBL North only the MANCHESTER EAGLES completed the season without forfeits. Second-place finisher MENWITH HILL PATRIOTS at least finished the year and played most of the games. The third club LIVERPOOL TROJANSĀ  had to withdrawal in the last third of the season. The future is uncertain.

A merge between the two leagues would be the best, especially as the distances between the cities are not that big in comparison to other European countries.
