The Solingen Alligators announced on Thursday that the 58-year-old David Daniels will be the new head coach of the northern champion in the Baseball-Bundesliga, starting in January 2011. He last worked as a coach in the Chicago White Sox organization. During his active career the former infielder played a total of 456 minor league games (1971-1975) for the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers franchise.
Daniels is succeeding Andy Fleischacker, who was at the helm in Solingen in the past two seasons. The Alligators also revealed that Torsten Krapf is retiring at the age of 34 and is taking over a coach of the Junior Team. Additionally he will be the coordinator for all youth teams in the club.
