The Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB) appointed Craig Montvidas as new head coach for the Netherlands Women Softball National Team. He succeeds Liz Kelly, who headed the coaching staff since 2005. The 58-year-old Montvidas signed a four-year contract.
He already worked as head coach for the Dutch National Team between 1997 and 1999 and served as an assistant coach in 1987. Since 1999 until this year he worked with the Greek and British Softball National Teams. The American Montvidas came to the Netherlands in 1975 and played Baseball for the GIANTS DIEMEN, KINHEIM and HCAW. He stayed in Europe after marrying the former national team player Luciène Geels and became a successful coach in Baseball and Softball.
