The Hanwha Eagles of South Korea’s pro league KBO have released Italian right-handed pitcher Alessandro Maestri and signed former San Diego Padres minor leaguer Fabio Castillo. The 31-year-old Maestri went 2-2 with an ERA of 9.42 in nine starts. He struck out 23 and walked 34 in 28 2/3 innings. The former minor leaguer with the Chicago Cubs had joined the KBO club after playing for the ORIX Buffaloes in Japan’s NPB since the 2012 season.
