This year’s surprise team in the southern division of the German Baseball-Bundesliga, the Haar Disciples, has announced its first acquisition for the 2011 season. They have signed the 24-year-old former Minor Leaguer Ryan Lee. The outfielder spent the past two years in the Chicago White Sox organization, after being drafted in 2009. Playing as high as Single-A he batted a combined .287 (OBP .355/SLG .347) with 21 extra base hits, 41 RBI, 61 runs scored and 37 stolen bases in 119 games. Before joining the White Sox the Californian had attended Cal Poly University for four years. The Disciples are planning to use him as leadoff hitter and will put him at second base or in the outfield.
