Ok, we know this is not much news, as the announcement came a few weeks ago. But we would like to start into the transfer season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. The HAAR DISCIPLES introduced a new coaching staff for 2009. Chris Dresel is replacing Michael Almstetter as new head coach and is going to be assisted by former DISCIPLES and Israel Baseball League player Ty Eriksen.
Dresel is coming from the second Bundesliga club INGOLSTADT SCHANZER (second division in Germany), where he coached the past two years. His new assistant coach is the American Eriksen, who was with HAAR in 2006 and who played in the Israel Baseball League in 2007. Almstetter is taking a step back from baseball due to work-related reasons, but will remain with the club as an advisor.
HAAR had a decent year in the Bundesliga, having hopes for the playoffs till a few weeks before the end of the regular season, finishing in sixth place in the southern conference with an 18-22 record.
