Montepaschi Grosseto
The Italian Baseball League club Montepaschi Grosseto is a first victim of the 2011 IBAF Baseball World Cup in Panama. Due to the tournament at the end of September/beginning of October pitching coach Javier Galvez isn’t going to receive the go-ahead from the Cuban Baseball Federation to return to Europe. He served in the same position when Grosseto won the championship in 2004 and the European Cup one year later. The Orioles hope to add a different Cuban pitching coach to the staff before the start of the new season. According to the report by Baseball.it there also seems the possibility that former Major League infielder Abraham Nunez isn’t coming to Italy after all. But right now it is just a rumor.
Telemarket Rimini
Just a few days after confirming the transfer of Panagiotis Sikaras from the North East Knights to Telemarket Rimini, the Pirates add another player from their local rivals. The 29-year-old outfielder Paolo Tanesini is supposed to fill the void in the outfield after Laidel Chapelli and Lorenzo Avagnina left for T&A San Marino. Tanesini batted .238 (OBP .288/SLG .294) with a triple, five doubles, 13 runs and 15 RBI in 37 games for De Angelis Godo last year.
