For the fourth time the Coed Slowpitch World Cup took place this past weekend in Plant City, Florida. Eight countries participated in the event organized by the Softball Division of the World Baseball Softball Confederation. Bahamas won the title ahead of Germany and Canada. Great Britain (4th), Bulgaria (7th) and France (8th) also participated from Europe.
Germany reached the page playoffs with a second place in the first round, having won five of seven games and scoring the most runs in the tournament. In the first semi-final they lost 10-15 to Bahamas, but still reached the finals with an 11-10 walk-off win over Canada in the Bronze Medal Game.
In the championship game Germany led the Bahamas in the third, when rain caused stoppage of play. Due the Bahamas win in the semi-finals they got awarded the Gold Medal. Germany had to settle for silver, still a success for the squad.
