The first all-star game in the German Baseball-Bundesliga since 2002 will be played in Paderborn. The German Baseball and Softball Federation (DBV) announced on Wednesday that the contest will take place on July 8. Stefan Fechtig (Untouchables Paderborn) and Martin Helmig (Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg) will select the coaches and players with all teams getting represented. A homerun derby is also scheduled. Originally the all-star game was supposed to be hosted by the Mainz Athletics. But the A’s apparently withdrew following questions about travel costs and the unfortunate rescheduling of an Untouchables Baseball-Bundesliga game by the DBV to that weekend. The U’s will play against the Berlin Sluggers on July 7, concluding the regular season in the northern division.
