After the German Softball National team defeated the Denmark on Easter weekend in four games, allowing just one run, the players started with their clubs into the new season last Saturday and Sunday. The Softball Bundesliga began with five teams in the northern division and seven in the south. Defending champion HAMBURG KNIGHTS as off on the first game day.
In the north the BRAUWEILER RAGING ABBOTS won three of their four games against the WESSELING VERMINS and the HOLM WESTEND 69ers. The latter also lost twice versus the NEUNKIRCHEN NIGHTMARES to open the year 0-4.
In the south KARLSRUHE, MANNHEIM and HERRENBERG kicked off with two victories each. The WANDERERS were able to celebrate a no-hitter in the 7-0 opener in Darmstadt. Laura Baessler struck out seven in five innings, allowing just two base runners on an error and a walk.

Darmstadt will win nothing but experience this year! Even the Verbandsligaclubs Dreieich, Mainz or Saarlouis would beat them!
Herrenberg looked pretty good though, besides the nohitter. Would be interessting to know ow much you have to pay on transfer fees for a player like Kassandra König, who is on their team now.
