According to an unconfirmed post on an umpire blog, the German Softball-Bundesliga is expected to field twelve teams in the upcoming 2009 season. In the north the KIEL SEAHAWKS and the COLOGNE CARDINALS are missing in comparison to 2008. The only new team are the HOLM WESTEND 69ERS, which leads to a five-team conference. They are going to play a triple round robin. In the south all seven teams from 2008 return, playing in a double round robin format. The HAMBURG KNIGHTS are the defending champion.
