Right-handed pitcher Moritz Sckaer is leaving the relegated Cologne Cardinals to join local rival Bonn Capitals in the upcoming season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. The 24-year-old began his career with the Cards, where he also made his debut in the German top division in 2003. He is currently playing at a college in Missouri, but apparently will be back in time for opening day in April. Last summer he made his German national team debut during the European Championship in Stuttgart, Heidenheim and Neuenburg. In 51 Bundesliga games he had a 22-14 record with an ERA of 3.20 so far. He struck out 190 batters in 281 2/3 innings, walking 143.
