The Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg crushed the Untouchables Paderborn 14-1 in seven innings on Saturday to sweep the best-of-five German finals 3-0. It is their third straight championship and the fourth since 2008. Manager Martin Helmig celebrated even his tenth German championship.
Game three was over shortly after it was started. In front of 1,500 people at the Armin-Wolf-Arena Regensburg put nine runs on the board in the first three innings. Matt Vance and Chris Howard hit homeruns, combining for seven RBI. Vance also scored four times.
On the mound Mike Bolsenbroek struck out eight in seven innings, allowing just three hits and a run. He was named MVP of the finals later. Eugen Heilmann was charged with seven hits, seven runs and two base on balls in just 1 2/3 innings to take the loss.
