GB Baseball has changed the title of General Manager for national teams to Operations Manager and has announced the appointment of Nik Patterson as GB Cadet Operations Manager and the promotion of Glen Robertson to the role of Director of Operations.
OPERATIONS MANAGERS
GB Baseball has been lucky to have dedicated volunteers in the role of national team General Managers over the years, and is particularly fortunate at the moment to have an excellent group in place: Glen Robertson (GB Seniors), Jo Ratcliff (GB Lions), Phil Edmonds (GB Juniors) and the recently-appointed Nik Patterson (GB Cadets – see below).
However, during a recent GB staff meeting, it was decided to change the title of these positions to Operations Manager, as the role involves overseeing and delivering all operational elements for national teams in terms of organisation, training and travel.
Operational roles are some of the most difficult we have and sometimes go unheralded. GB Head Coach Liam Carroll has said: “There are two basic elements to the success of Team GB – Performance and Operations. They’re equal parts.”
NEW CADET OM
GB Baseball and the BBF are pleased to announce the appointment of Nik Patterson as Operations Manager for the Cadet (U16) National Team.
Nik has been involved in British and European baseball for nearly 30 years and brings that experience to his new position. He is already heavily involved with both the Academy and High Performance Academy, where he works with many GB athletes.
Glen Robertson, Team GB’s new Director of Operations, said: “Having someone with Nik’s organisational skills is invaluable. Add the fact that he’s been in British Baseball for 25 or 30 years and it’s a no-brainer.”
Nik has been thrown straight into the fray and is busy organising the Cadets’ return to European Championship baseball, when they will travel to Qualifiers in Belgrade, Serbia this July.
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
GB Senior Team Operations Manager Glen Robertson has been promoted to the role of Director of Operations for GB Baseball.
Since joining the national teams programme in January 2014, Glen has raised the managerial bar with his attention to detail and tireless work ethic, and has changed the landscape of GB Baseball domestically and internationally.
Glen’s new role will mean new responsibilities. As well as maintaining operational duties for the Senior National Team, Glen will oversee the work of operational staff for all national teams, in an attempt to spread the same level of efficiency and professionalism throughout the programme.
