Fortitudo Bologna continues to bolster its roster for Europe’s first ever participation in the Asia Series 2013 next month in Taichung. After Pat Venditte, Alexander Burkard and Daryl Thompson, manager Marco Nanni welcomes pitcher Bobby Blevins and slugger Craig James Ziegler to the roster. Both are born in 1985 and have plenty of experience in professional baseball.
The former Triple-A hurler for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Blevins, pitched in the Atlantic League and the Can Am Association this year, going 10-11 with an ERA of 4.29 in 22 starts. Ziegler looks back at six years of professional baseball up to Triple-A. The first baseman spent 2013 with Wichita in the independent American Association, batting .318/.408/.645 with 30 home runs, 81 runs and 99 RBI in 100 games.
Bologna as European Champions Cup winner will face the winners of the Australian Baseball League, Chinese Professional Baseball League, Korea Baseball Organisation and Nippon Professional Baseball from November 15 to 20 in Taichung.
