He 36-yeeer-old southpaw was born in Oakland, California. He went to Clark High School in San Antonio and later to the University of Houston. He was selected by the Detroit Tigers in 1993 amateur draft but didn’t sign. One year later he was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the seventh round and joined the organization. He celebrated his Major League debut 1996 against the Atlanta Braves. Between 1996 and 1998 he made 53 starts in the big leagues. He posted an 8-23 record with an ERA of 5.37, striking out 266 in 295 innings pitched. He was granted free agency after the 2000 season. He signed with the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers later on.
He never appeared in another Major League Game after 1998. During ten seasons in the Minor Leagues he had an overall record of 49-39 in 137 games (124 starts) with a combined ERA of 3.71. In 2006 (7-6, ERA 4.34) and 2007 (12-8, ERA 5.15) he pitched for Bridgeport in the Atlantic League.
