The Borgerhout Squirrels and MKS Stal Kutno are playing in the title game at the Federations Cup Qualifier at Farnham Park on Sunday. The final is scheduled for 12pm GMT. Borgerhout closed out the preliminary phase with their fourth win in as many games. MKS Stal Kutno took advantage of the win, as the Sofia Blues missed out on their third victory. In game two of the day the London Mets beat Atletico Alexandria.
Borgerhout Squirrels (BEL) – Sofia Blues (BUL) 11-10
With a victory the Sofia Blues would have joined the Borgerhout Squirrels in the finals on Sunday. However the Squirrels denied their participation with an 11-10 nail-biter on Saturday morning. In a back and forth battle Sofia took a 10-8 lead with five runs in the top of the eighth. But Borgerhout answered with three in the bottom of the ninth to remain undefeated in the tournament. Joannes Ochoa doubled home Steven De Lannoy to decide the outcome in walk-off style. Yannick Gontier drove in three and picked up the win in relief. Evgenii Chernozemsky and Keith Gilmor had three RBI apiece for the Blues. Beshkov got charged with the loss.
Atletico Alexandria (ROM) – London Mets (GBR) 6-8
The London Mets finished their tournament with a 2-2 record after an 8-6 win over Atletico Alexandria in the evening match on Saturday. It was a close game, where London took a 5-3 with a four-run third. They added three much needed insurance runs and secured the victory. Julian Somers went 3-for-3 with three RBI to pace the Mets offense. Conrad Cornell scored three times. Cornel Panaitescu collected two RBI for Alexandria. Max Tyler conceded six hits, five runs (3 ER) and four walks in five innings to pick up the win. A. Adumitrachioaie gave up eight runs (5 ER) on nine hits and four base on balls in six innings to take the loss.
