Reliever Fabio Milano of Unipol Bologna, who also has been a member of the Italian national team in the past, suffered a tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow in a game against Cariparma Parma on June 11. He will need the so-called Tommy John surgery, which will be performed by Professor Giuseppe Porcellini in the coming weeks. Milano, who only appeared in two games for Bologna this season, will be sidelined at least until 2012. The 34-year-old left-hander has played his entire career for Fortitudo and has an ERA of 2.42 in 216 games at the top level in Italian Baseball.
