The first edition of the Under 22 European Softball Championship is currently under way in Torino, Italy. Eight teams compete in the tournament. After a preliminary round, which started on Monday, the best four teams advance into the final round. On Friday the top two are face each other with the winner advancing into the final on Saturday. The loser is playing the winner of the game between the third and fourth ranked team to determine the second finalist.
After three game days Italy and Russia are leading the standings each with perfect 4-0 records, followed by the Czech Republic with three wins out of four games. Spain, the Ukraine, France, Greece and Croatia are also playing in the event. The two undefeated leaders face each other on Thursday, as the first try on Wednesday was suspended due to rain.
