Like in the first game of the competition on Monday against Belgium, the German team scored at will one day later to defeat Russia 13-0 in seven innings. They scored in each frame. J. Ellenbogen crossed the plate four times. M. Ehmke drove in three. M. Woehrl and three relievers combined to allow just four hits and four walks.
Czech Republic – Lithuania 7-2
The Czech Republic picked up its first win of the European Junior Championship on Tuesday, as they beat Lithuania 7-2. D. Vittek (W) struck out eleven batters in seven strong innings to pace the team. He allowed three hits, two unearned runs and three bb. R. Sazavsky went 3-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and a RBI. R. Vilimas (L) threw 176 pitches in a complete game loss.
Ukraine – Belgium 3-1
The Ukraine edged out Belgium 3-1 on Tuesday, as A. Lopata (W) collected eleven strikeouts in a complete game, issuing eight hits and two walks, but only an unearned run. R. Boiko drove in two of the three Ukrainian runs with a single in the fifth.
France – Spain 6-5
France used a six-run fourth to down host Spain in the evening game on Tuesday. The Iberians were able to cut the deficit to a single run one frame later, but couldn’t tie the contest afterwards. S. Neumann and A. Paz picked up two RBI each for Belgium, J. Leon and C. Alvarado for Spain.
