Day two at the European Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands brought no surprises. Telemarket Rimini remains the lone undefeated team in the tournament after defeating the Tenerife Marlins 5-2 in the afternoon game. Host DOOR Neptunus won the duel of favored teams against T&A San Marino 6-2 in the evening with both team being tied in the standings with 1-1 records. In the morning the Hoboken Pioneers prevailed 5-3 against the winless Savigny Lions.

The Belgian champion Hoboken Pioneers overcame a 0-2 deficit against the French runner up Savigny Lions and won game one on day two at the European Cup in Rotterdam 5-3 on Thursday. A RBI single by Sammy Lauwers and a run after a wild pitch helped the Pioneers to tie the game in the fifth. Another wild pitch in the seventh brought Nicky Mertens home for the 3-2 lead. Dennis Ribbens added two insurance runs with a single in the ninth to seal the victory.
Savigny had scored the first two runs of the game thanks to a pair of RBI doubles by Tim Stewart in the second and the fourth. But they couldn’t do much afterwards besides a RBI single by Sebastien Boyer in the ninth. Josh Neitz (W 1-0) allowed seven hits, three runs and a walk going the distance. He struck out eight. Kyle Nash started for the Lions and gave up five hits, two runs (1 ER) and four bb in six innings. Eloi Secleppe (L 0-1) took the loss.
Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz – Telemarket Rimini 2-5

A RBI single by Matti Campanini in the top of the sixth broke a 2-2 tie and Telemarket Rimini went on to beat the Tenerife Marlins 5-2 for their second win at the European Cup in Rotterdam. After the Pirates had taken a 2-0 lead after RBIs by Mario Chiarini and Daniel Gonzalez, Puerto Cruz evened the score in the bottom of the third on a RBI double by Lesther Galvan and a RBI groundout by Nguyen Boulet.
Following the go-ahead hit by Campanini in the sixth Rimini added two more runs in the eighth on a RBI single by Giuseppe Spinelli and a sac fly by Jack Santora, who scored twice in the game. Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez (W 1-0) allowed seven hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in six innings for the win. Cristian Remedios (L 0-1) did a solid job against the Italian club, allowing just four hits, three runs (2 ER) and six bb in six innings.
T&A San Marino – DOOR Neptunus 2-6

DOOR Neptunus defeated T&A San Marino 6-2 in the evening game at the Familie Stadion and the host and heavy favorite has its first win of the 2010 European Cup in his pocket. Dushan Ruzic (W 1-0) didn’t allow a run through the first eight innings to lead Neptunus to the win. He went the distance, conceding seven hits, two unearned runs and five walks out-dueling Henry Bonilla (L 0-1). Bonilla gave up nine hits, three runs (2 ER) and a bb in 7 2/3 innings.
Ruzic’ offense provided him with a slim 1-0 lead in the second inning, when Martijn Meeuwis drove in Danny Rombley from third with a double. The score stood until Rotterdam scored five runs in the last two frames to seal the victory. Raily Legito drove in two. Eugene Kingsale went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. The Titans only were able to avoid the shutout, when they scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth.
