After Italy won the opener of the 2017 European Baseball Series against the Netherlands on Friday evening in Verona by a score of 3-2, they also came through with a 6-2 win on Saturday in Godo. They built a quick 5-0 by scoring in four of the first five innings. Mattia Reginato hit a home run and combined with Nicola Garbella to drive in four. Sebastiano Poma scored three times. Dwayne Kemp doubled, scored and drove in a run for the Dutch team. Nicolo Clemente earned the win in relief. Diegomar Markwell got charged with the loss.
On Sunday the Netherlands avoided the sweep with a 5-2 victory in Codogno. A four-run sixth inning helped the Dutch to decide the outcome, breaking a 1-1 tie. Remco Draijer scored two runs. Dwayne Kemp had the lone RBI for the guests, which were home in the game. Riccardo Bertossi and Robel Garcia scored the runs for Italy. Rob Cordemans struck out eight in four strong innings. Mike Bolsenbroek received the win. Claudio Scotti took the loss.
The European Baseball Series between Italy and the Netherlands was played for the third time after 2006 and 2009.
