There will be a new team in the 2010 lineup of the Swedish Elitserien. Eskilstuna BSC will replace the Rättvik Butchers. The Butchers, which finished in sixth place in 2009 with a 9-15 record, withdrew due to player shortage. The Eskilstuna Hammers finished in third place in the Kvalserien (promotion/relegation round for Elitserien) behind Goteborg and Gefle this year. The Hammers will join defending champion Stockholm, Tranås, Karlskoga, Leksand, Sundbyberg, Goteborg and Gefle in the 2010 Elitserien.
