The Dutch Hoofdklasse club DOOR NEPTUNUS announced on Friday that head coach Eric De Bruin resigns from his job with the semi-finalist of the last two years. Due to his real life profession as board member of the Dutch Division of AIG De Bruin doesn’t have the time anymore to combine both jobs successful. The club is currently looking for a new head coach.
The 44-year-old De Bruin was leading NEPTUNUS since the beginning of the 2007 season. Both times they qualified in second place for the playoffs, but lost in the semis to the PIONIERS last year and to L&D AMSTERDAM a month ago, which later won the Dutch championship. He guided them to the title at the Cup Winners Cup in Hoofdorp in 2007 and reached the semi-final at the European Cup in Regensburg this June.
As a player De Bruin appeared in 654 games in the Dutch Major League between 1982 and 2000 for NEPTUNUS and local rival SPARTA. He won the batting title (.410) in 1992 and was a member of the Netherlands National Team in 106 games.
