EMBRACH DROPS GAME VS EAGLES, REMAINS IN SECOND PLACE IN THE YOUNG SEASON

Two close games on Saturday leave the Embrach Mustangs and the Luzern Eagles split at the end of the day. Mustang bats are still hot but defense let up.

The first game was up for grabs from the start. With Roger Savoldelli on mound, the Embrach offense came out with a charge gaining a 2 run lead in the first on 3 consecutive hits to start the bottom of the inning, however the Eagles came back strong in the second with 2 runs of their own on a 2 RBI single by Reyes. Another strong inning in the 3rd allowed the Mustangs to gain a 4 run lead. This proved to not be enough when Luzern battled back scoring 7 total runs in the 4th through 6th inning.

The Mustang’s bats stayed hot all game reaching a season high 16 hits and scored 10 runs, but Embrach allowed the Eagles to stay in the game by compiling a total of 10 errors in the nine innings. The Mustangs did make a strong comeback in the 8th inning led by a 2 out double off the bat of Savoldelli scoring Chris Hutchinson. Embrach scored 4 runs in the 8th to cut the lead to 1, but in the bottom of the 9th they were unable to execute. The tying run, Harry Wishnewski, was left on 3rd base to end the game.

Mustang hitters Wischenewski, Small, Crouse, and Hutchinson all finished with 3 hits in game 1. The Eagles leadoff hitter Reyes also finished with 3 hits.

Game 2 was different story for the Mustangs. Pitcher Chris Byrnes started the game for Embrach and pitched a solid first half. Josh Crouse (2-0) finished the game and slipped away with his second win of the season.

The second game of the day was also a close one as the Mustangs came out on top, 5-3. The Mustangs put up 1 run in each of the 5th and 6th innings to solidify the lead. Chris Hutchinson stayed hot at the plate recording another 2 hits in the 2nd game, reaching a total of 5 hits on the day.
