The Ukraine recovered from the 0-1 loss to Romania on Wednesday and defeated Finland 13-3 in their last preliminary round game on Thursday. They scored twelve runs in the first four periods alone. Dmytro Nelipa and Ihor Litvinchuk each had three hits and three RBI. Maksym Symchyna scored three runs after going three-for-four too.
Roman Mayfat (W 1-0) allowed four hits, two runs and two walks in five innings. Jukka-Pekka Kurvinen (L 0-1) gave up seven hits and six runs (3 ER) in two innings.

The Slovakian team got their first victory of the Qualifier in Trnava. They defeated Hungary 12-1 in eight innings. 400 people celebrated a 6-1 lead after three innings. They put six runs alone on the board in the eighth to close it out due to ten-run rule. Jan Jablonka had three hits, including a grand slam. Jan Kuzma drove in three, Peter Mudry two. Hungary had started the match with a RBI triple by Zsolt Zalabai in the first, but could not score more.
Marcel Nagy (W 1-0) allowed two hits, one run and five walks in 5 2/3 innings. Janos Daroczi (L 0-1) gave up eight hits, eight runs and six bb in 7 1/3 innings.
