Radek Prochaczka (W 1-0) and Jan Rehacek combined for a one-hit shutout to lead the Czech National Team to an 8-0 win against Slovenia and first place at the Qualifier in Prague. Prochaczka allowed just one double to the second batter he faced and gave up just two more walks in the first seven innings. Rehacek closed out the one-hitter with two no-hit one-walk innings of relief.
The Czech Republic took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, when Cincinnati Reds prospect Petr Cech scored on an error by second baseman Peter Milosevic. They added seven more runs to the board till the end, highlighted by a solo shot by Jakub Malik (2-4, 2 Runs, 2 RBI) in the fifth.
Ales Mravlje (L 0-1) was charged with four hits, four runs (1 ER) and a walk in 3 2/3 innings to take the loss.
A third game was not necessary, as the Czech had won the preliminary duel on Wednesday 3-2 in eleven innings.
