Switzerland scored six runs in the fifth and five in the seventh en route to a 13-2 victory over Ireland to open the European Championship Qualifier in Barcelona, Spain on Monday. Johnny Perigos drove in three. Daniel Eichenberger and Tobias Siegrist picked up two RBI each. Lukas Croton (W) allowed two hits, two runs and four walks in six innings. Pat O’Connell (L) issued nine hits, ten runs (6 ER) and nine bb in six frames.

Spain scored ten runs in the first three innings en route to a 15-run mercy rule shortened 15-0 shutout over Finland. Herman Armas drove in three. Marc Carrillo scored thrice. Yoel Hernandez, Pedro Belmonte and Jorge Balboa combined to allow just two hits and a walk in six scoreless innings. Finland’s defense committed ten errors in the game. Ville-Herman Saarman (L) was charged with nine hits, ten runs (7 ER) and three bb in three innings.
