Spain concluded the first round at the European Championship in the Netherlands with a 6-0 shutout over Croatia at Paperclip Stadium in Utrecht. Ivan Granados and three relievers combined to hold the underdog to two hits and a walk in nine scoreless innings. Granados struck out seven in six innings for the win. Richard Montiel and Jesus Golindano had three hits apiece driving in three runs. Ernesto Pereira took the loss, issuing seven hits, three runs and two walks. Spain moves up to the second round with a 4-1 record, while Croatia has to settle for a classification game.
