Unipol Bologna – Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg 9-4
Unipol Bologna out-slugged the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg 9-4 on Saturday evening in the last first-round match at the European Cup in Regensburg. Bologna reaches the final game, where they will face T&A San Marino on Sunday afternoon.
Bologna broke a 1-1 tie with a pair of RBI singles by Gabriele Ermini and Nicholas Nosti in the fifth. Five runs in the bottom of the seventh blew the score wide open. Nosti also hit a home run and finished with three RBI. Daniele Malengo scored three times for the defending European Champions Cup winner. Ludwig Glaser drove in two for Regensburg.
On the mound Adam Clerici issued two hits, a run and three walks in seven innings to pick up the win. Roger Luque and Fabio Milano closed it out. The Buchbinder Legionaere gave the pitching nods to their prospects. Wolfgang Reitter started and conceded five hits, three runs and a walk in 4 1/3 innings. James Larsen, Jonathan Eisenhuth and Sven Schueller also got into the game.
