The French Elite league leader TEMPLIERS SENART celebrated a 6-0 victory in the European Cup opener in Regensburg. Samuel Meurant led the team with a complete game shutout. He allowed just four hits and struck out twelve.
The offense supported him more than enough. David Meurant drove in two. Sebastien Herve and Evan Blesoff each scored twice. Gaspard Fessy had three hits.
MGPU starter Niko Chermoschentsev gave up ten hits, five runs and four walks in 7 2/3 innings.

The FC BARCELONA is off to a good start into this season European Cup edition. The winner of the CEB Cup 2007 stunned the favored NETTUNO 3-1. Homer Baez led the Spanish participant to the victory with a complete game. He gave up just one run on nine hits and four walks. He pitched out of a few jams, but prevailed in the end.
BARCELONA took the decisive lead in the bottom of the sixth when they successfully attempted a squeeze bunt by Juan Salazar, which plated Miguel Mora. They added an insurance run in the eighth on Oscar Roman’s RBI single. DANESI had tied the game in the top of the sixth through a RBI single by Vincent Parisi.
They had Carlos Richetti on the mound at the start of the match. He allowed one unearned run on four hits in four innings. Carlos Pezzullo replaced him and took the loss.
AVG Draci Brno – Olimpija Karlovac 9-1

DRACI BRNO used a five-run sixth to crush KARLOVAC 9-1. The match was much closer, than the score indicates. The Croatians led 1-0 after a homerun by Josip Brozinic in the fourth and had a chance for two thirds of the game. However in the end, BRNO got their offense going. Jan Jablonka had two RBI. Tomas Polansky was three-for-five with two runs scored.
Martin Schneider struck out seven in six solid innings for DRACI. He allowed three hits, one run and two bb. MINNESOTA TWINS prospect Jakub Toufar closed out the game for the save. Carlos Tovar was responsible for 13 hits, nine runs (7 ER) and one walk in eight innings. He struck out eight in the loss.

NEPTUNUS had to overcome deficits of 1-3 and 3-4 to hold host REGENSBURG down, 10-5 in the night cap of the first day of European Cup play. They scored seven runs in the sixth and seventh periods to decide the outcome.
Derick Francisca and Eugen Kingsale combined for seven RBI and three runs scored. Raily Legito and Jeroen Sluijter each scored twice. Simon Kudernatsch had three hits, two runs and a RBI for the LEGIONAERE. Mic Weigl drove in two.
Both teams used three pitchers apiece and yanked their starters in the fourth. Craig Crow began for the home team. He allowed one hit, two runs and two walks in 3 1/3 innings. Leon Boyd became the nod for the Dutch. He gave up two hits, three runs and three bb in three innings. Dushan Ruzic got the win, Jonathan Eisenhuth the loss. The young Eisenhuth was hit hard, giving up seven runs on nine hits in the last three periods of the match.
