(2-0) Technika Brno – Port of Antwerp Greys 7-2
The Czech club Technika Brno beat host Port of Antwerp Greys 7-2 on Saturday to complete the 2-0 sweep in the final series at the European Cup Qualifier in Antwerp, Belgium. Brno now gets a chance to play in the European Cup Playoff in September. It was their sixth victory in six games this week, out-scoring their opponents 84-13 in the process.
In the second game of the final series -Technika had defeated the Greys 7-2 on Friday in the last preliminary round match, which counted as game one – Brno took the lead in the fourth and blew things wide open with a five-run fifth, again prevailing 7-2.
Billy Hess scored twice, while Michal Koci drove in two. They also took full advantage of five errors by the Antwerp defense, which led to four unearned runs. Daniel Mraz (W 1-0) allowed just one run on six hits and five walks in six innings. Kevin MacLeod (L 0-1) surrendered four hits, six runs (3 ER) and seven bb in five innings for the loss.
