The MARLINS got their first victory of the European Cup on Wednesday. They defeated the Russian BALASHIKHA 9-3. Richard Montiel hit a homerun and drove in four runs. Dewis Navarro, the brother of TAMPA BAY RAYS catcher Dioner, was three-for-four with a run scored and two RBI. Victor Jose Lopez had four hits and two RBI. Valeriy Platonov drove in two for TORNADO.
Renny Duarte only had one bad frame, when he allowed three runs in the sixth. Besides he dominated. He struck out eight in the complete game, giving up a total of five hits, three runs (2 ER) and a walk. 75 of his 105 pitches were for strikes. Vladimir Petrov took the loss. He was charged with six hits, six runs (5 ER) and four bb in six innings.
Corendon Kinheim – T&A San Marino 11-4

KINHEIM overcame an early 0-3 deficit and scored eleven runs on 15 hits defeat SAN MARINO 11-4. Rene Cremer was one of three players of CORENDON with three hits. He drove in three. Denny Beljaards and Denny Rombley were the other two, as they scored a combined six times. Vince Rooi and Dirk Van’t Klooster each drove in two.
Both starting pitchers struggled. Robin van Eis (KIN) allowed six hits, three runs and six walks in four innings. Tiago Da Silva (SMA) gave up seven hits, five runs and a bb in 4 1/3 innings for the loss. Onno Baur received the win for four innings of solid relief.

In front of 350 people in attendance, GROSSETO came to an easy 13-1 win against the French champion ROUEN. They already led 3-1, when they decided the outcome definitely in the fifth, by bringing seven runs on the board. They added three more to put an early end on it due to ten-run rule.
Jorge Nunez, Lorenzo Avagnina and Antony Caracciolo each drove in two runs for MONTEPASCHI. Their offense profited also from the wildness of the HUSKIES pitchers, which walked ten. Four batters had two free passes apiece, five scored twice.
Leonardo D’Amico started for GROSSETO and allowed one unearned run on three hits on four innings. Junior Oberto and David Preziosi finished the job with three perfect relief innings. Jean Baptiste Couton gave up three hits, seven runs (5 ER) and seven bb in 4 1/3 innings.

The ATHLETICS once again got off to a good start scoring first, but lost in the end anyway. The ROYAL GREYS overcame the deficit and crushed MAINZ 9-2. The decided the outcome between the sixth and eighth period, when they put eight of their nine runs on the scoreboard of the Simone Scarpelli ballpark in Grosseto, Italy.
Byron Bell had three hits, including a homerun and three RBI. Kim Wybo and David Herssens each drove in two runs. Gert Rosiers and Kevin Knollenburg also had three hits.
Dennis van Hoof struck out eleven in his complete game win. He allowed six hits, two runs (1 ER) and three walks. He threw 138 pitches, 87 for strikes. Raef Hobbs-Brown gave up twelve hits, eight runs (7 ER) and one walk in seven innings.
