Croatia picked up its first win of the European Championship with a 13-1 rout over Greece on Wednesday morning in Stuttgart. The game was totally meaningless for the final standings in the preliminary round. Due to that both teams didn’t use their usual starting lineup and gave their bench players a few at-bats. Croatia scored seven fast runs in the first three frames and ended the game due to ten-run rule after seven innings.
Danijl Levak (W 1-0) struck out seven batters in seven innings, allowing four hits, a run and three walks. At the plate Ivan Racic went 4-for-4 with homerun, four runs scored and three RBI. Benjamin Goldstrom collected three hits and three RBI. Jason Zachos denied the shutout with a solo homerun in the fifth. Constanine Kapothanasis (L 0-1) surrendered four hits and three runs (2 ER) in the first inning to take the loss.
