em-logo-2016Italy celebrated a 15-0 shutout over Belgium in the evening game on Sunday at the European Championship in Hoofddorp. In a Group B matchup they scored in each of the five innings played and ended the contest early due to 15-run rule with an eight-run rally in the fifth.

It was an offensive demonstration by the Squadra Azzurri. Ten different players crossed the plate for runs. Stefano Desimoni led all batters by going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Four players drove in two, five scored twice. Thomas De Wolf had two hits for Belgium.

Carlos Richetti allowed only four hits in five scoreless innings for the win. He struck out six. Robbe De Jongh got charged with the loss, surrendering eight hits, six runs and a walk in two-plus innings.
