Box score

em-logo-2016France overcame an early 0-1 deficit to beat Greece 7-1 in the afternoon game on Sunday at Nieuw Vennep at the European Championship. They tied the game in the fourth and got ahead by four runs in the fifth en route to their second win in three tournament games. Greece remains winless.

Alexandros Gounaris hit a sac fly in the top of the second to give Greece their first lead in the tournament. However it was short-lived. Frederic Hanvi scored in the fourth on an error after a stolen base attempt to tie the game. One inning later Hanvi cleared the bases with a three-run double to highlight a four-run rally, as France got in front. A RBI single by Maxime Lefevre and a bases loaded walk by Anthony Piquet finalized the score.

Marc-Andre Habeck threw seven strong innings for the win. He issued just three hits, a run and two walks. Jonathan Mottay closed it out. Theodor Bourdaniotis surrendered ten hits, seven runs (6 ER) and five walks in 6 1/3 innings to take the loss.
