em-logo-2016The Czech Republic remains undefeated in the 2016 European Championship in Hoofddorp after three days of first-round action. On Sunday morning they scored four runs in the first en route to a 6-1 win over Sweden. A strong pitching performance followed to secure the victory. Sweden dropped to 1-2.

Tomas Junec highlighted the four-run rally to start the game with a two-run single. A pair of errors had pushed the first two runs over the plate. Martin Cervenka with a RBI single in the third and another error in the seventh helped the Czech team to build a 6-0 lead afterwards. Sweden scored only in the eighth thanks to a RBI single by Matt Merrifield.

Boris Bokaj conceded just four hits and two walks in six scoreless innings for the win. Jan Novak, Ondrej Satoria and Jan Tomek combined to close it out. Albin Sivard lasted just one out in the first, giving up four runs (1 ER) on two walks and a hit by pitch to take the loss. Jakob Claesson took over and kept Sweden in the game.
