The Netherlands Women Softball Team has started their second part of their American trip. They travelled to Hawaii to play another series of exhibition games and participate in a tournament. They lost the first match on Thursday 1-8. But got back on track on Friday with two shutout wins. They are now 6-1 on their tour.

They never had a real chance against the Hawaii Pacific University as they were out-hit 14-6. After three scoreless innings to start the game, the sea warriors scored eight runs through the next four to decide the outcome. Nathalie TIMMERMANS was responsible for the only Dutch run as she hit a solo-homerun in seventh to avoid the shutout. Saskia KOSTERIK had two of the six hits.
Dagmar BLOEMING took the loss, pitching four-plus innings. Anouk MELS and Rebecca SOUMERU also appeared in the game.

The Netherlands squad played a doubleheader against the Brigham Young University on Friday. Starter Kristie DE VRIES threw a three-hit complete game shutout in the first match. She walked one, striking out six.
She also drove in the first run with a double in the second and scored through a RBI-single by Lynn GEERTMAN. Saskia KOSTERINK added an insurance run in the third with a RBI-groundout.

The second part went over five innings. Judith VAN KAMPEN followed the footsteps of DE VRIES, giving up just one hit in the shutout. She struck out nine and retired the last 14 batters in a row.
The offense produced seven hits, all for extra bases. They scored seven runs in the third and added three more a frame later. Marleos FELLINGER and Debby CONNOR hit back-to-back homeruns in the fourth. FELLINGER also had a three-run double to bring her RBI total to five for the day.
They had Saturday off and face the Chaminade University of Honolulu in another doubleheader on Sunday.
