Dutch Minor Leaguer in Rookie and Single A Ball end Season in US

Pulaski Mariners (R): Kalian Rivalino Sams
Outfielder Sams has not appeared in a game for the Pulaski Mariners since July 24. His batting average for the season is .204, he has 10 home runs, 20 RBIs, and has stolen 1 base. The Pulaski Mariners made the post season – a best of three series determining the season champs – as the reigning team in the APP East. On August 28 they lost to the APP West champs, Elizabethton, 4-7 and but were shut down on August 29th by Elizabethton 7-0, ending the season for Pulaski.

Beloit Snappers (A): Loek Van Mil
Pitcher Van Mil was selected for the Dutch Olympic team, but was replaced due to injury. He has not appeared in a game for the Slappers since July 18. His ERA for the season is 3.22. He has 3 saves, a 2-2 record, and 24 strikeouts. The Snappers were the division winners for the first half of the season.

GCL Twins (R): Tom Stuifbergen
Stuifbergen is continuing his recovery and remains on the 60 day DL. His team, the GCL Twins, earned a wild card spot in the one game GCL playoffs on August 28 against the GCL Nationals. The Twins lost the final game 10-5.

AZL Mariners (R): Ramon Romeijn
Romeijn, pitcher for the Mariners of the Rookie Arizona League, has not appeared in a game since July 25. The Mariners did not earn a spot in the playoffs.

DSL Phillies (R): Rudney Balentien
Balentin, left fielder for the Phillies of the Dominican Summer League, appeared in his last game on August 21, when he went 1 for 3 with a double. His batting average for the season is .214. The Phillies’ season ended on August 23, finishing second in their division (SD North).

Boise Hawks (R): Dwayne Kemp
2nd baseman Kemp has batting average for the season of .200, with an on base percentage of .395. In his most recent appearance on September 1, he was 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts. He has 6 RBIs for the season and 1 stolen base. The Hawks made a run for the Eastern Division Title, but fell short to Spokane.

VSL Astros (R): Jan Baldee
Baldee has not appeared in a game for the Rookie Venezuelan Summer League Astros since July 21. His batting average is .070, and he has 1 RBI and 1 stolen base. He appeared in 13 games, and the VSL Astros ended their season on August 2.

Sarasota Reds (A): Alex Smit
Smit, pitcher for the Sarasota Reds of the Class A Advanced Florida State League, has not appeared in a Reds game since July 22. Sarasota was ranked last in their division, and did not make the FSL playoffs. Smit’s season ERA with the Reds is 3.87, he has an 8-7 record with 94 strikeouts. Smit represented the Netherlands on the Dutch Olympic Team in Beijing.

GCL Red Sox (R): Swen Huijer
Huijer got the win against the GCL Orioles on August 27. He pitched three innings in relief (the 3rd to the 6th) and gained 1 earned run. This is his third win of the season, and his first since July 15. His ERA for the season is 2.87. The GCL Red Sox did not earn a playoff spot.

VSL Mets (R): Marinus Vernooij
Vernooij, 3rd baseman for the Mets of the Rookie Venezuelan Summer League, has a batting average for the season of .201. He has logged 17 RBIs, 1 home run and 2 stolen bases. The VSL Mets’ season ended on August 2.

GCL Phillies (R): Mike Bolsenbroek
Righty Bolsenbroek pitched 1 inning on August 26 against the GCL Tigers, striking out 1 and giving up two hits. His ERA since his debut on August 11 is 1.42, with 5 strikeouts. He is 0-1. The Phillies claimed the GCL title in a three game series against the GCL Nationals.
