After L&D Amsterdam and Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam combined to win the first eight games of the Dutch Hoofdklasse semi-final round robin, the Hoofddorp Pioniers ended that streak on Saturday. They defeated Curacao Neptunus 2-1. After each team scored in the first, Mark Smit broke the tie with a RBI single in the second. Neither team would score again and the Pioniers captured the victory. Chris Pfau, Glenn Wassink and Maickel Rietel kept Rotterdam to one run in nine innings. Orlando Yntema pitched 2 1/3 innings to take the loss.
L&D Amsterdam meanwhile kept on winning. The Pirates defeated HCAW 8-4 in Bussum on Saturday. Amsterdam scored in four of the last six innings, erasing an early 0-1 deficit. Nick Urbanus, Gilmer Lampe and Danny Rombley scored two runs apiece. Kenny Berkenbosch drove in two. Rachid Engelhardt had two hits, a double, a run and a RBI for HCAW. Kevin Heijstek threw seven frames for the win. Kaj Timmermans got charged with the loss.
