The race for the Holland Series is coming to an end on Sunday. Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam beat L&D Amsterdam 5-1. Orlando Yntema and two relievers kept Amsterdam at four hits, a run and six walks through nine innings. Gianison Boekhoudt drove in two for Rotterdam. Dwayne Kemp scored twice. Robin Schel got charged with the loss.
In the second game in the semi-final round robin on Saturday the Vaessen Pioniers beat Kinheim 9-1. Five runs combined in the seventh and the eighth blew the score wide open. Quintin de Cuba and Kevin Dirksen had two RBI apiece. Chris Pfau struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings for the win. Nick Veltkamp took the loss.
While Curacao Neptunus already has booked a trip to the Holland Series, the second spot comes down to the results from the last two games on Sunday. L&D Amsterdam clinches a final series berth with either a win over Rotterdam or a loss by the Pioniers. The Vaessen Pioniers already have the better record in the playoffs compared to Amsterdam. But since the Pirates entered the round robin with bonus points for their results in the regular season, the team from Hoofddorp need to complete the sweep over Kinheim and additionally a loss by Amsterdam to Curacao Neptunus.
