Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam moved into sole possession of first place in the Dutch Hoofdklasse semifinal round robin with a 7-3 win over L&D Amsterdam on Sunday afternoon. Three runs in the first and four in the seventh gave Rotterdam a 7-0 lead before the Pirates woke up with three runs in the last two frames. Gregory Muller led the way with three hits, a home run and four RBI. Kevin Kelly pitched six scoreless innings for the win. Robin Schel got charged with the loss.
Meanwhile the Hoofddorp Pioniers lost a slugfest 8-15 against HCAW. The team from Bussum scored four runs apiece in the third, fifth and seventh en route to the win. Nine different HCAW players scored a run. Kaj Timmermans conceded 15 hits in 6 1/3 innings, but still ended up with the win. Lars Huijer got charged with the loss. Dudley Leonora had four RBI in the losing effort.
