DOOR Neptunus won game one of the 2013 Holland Series on Saturday against the Vaessen Pioniers. Diegomar Markwell pitched eight scoreless innings to lead Rotterdam to a 4-0 shutout. A bases loaded walk by Kalian Sams broke the scoreless tie in the third. A sac fly by Lopez and a RBI single by Rafael Jozefa followed to make it 3-0. Shaldimar Daantji added an insurance run with a RBI single in the sixth. Josh Rickards surrendered three hits, four runs and seven walks in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Game two on Sunday was much closer. DOOR Neptunus however prevailed in the end. A walk-off RBI single by Sams in the bottom of the tenth sealed a 2-1 victory. Danny Rombley had given the Pioniers a 1-0 lead in the top of the third thanks to a RBI single. Rotterdam answered right away with a RBI infield single by Raily Legito. Brendan Wise pitched 1 2/3 scoreless frames for the win. Swen Huijer took the loss. Orlando Yntema had issued six hits, a run and three walks in 8 1/3 innings, Eddie Aucoin gave up one run on eight hits and a base on balls in eight innings. With the two wins this weekend Neptunus has a 2-0 lead over the Pioniers in the best-of-seven Holland Series.
