The Dutch Major Leagues resumed action last week in the Netherlands with league-leading DOOR Neptunus (27-7) securing wins over Mr. Cocker-Hague and Almere.
Ace pitcher Leon BOYD fanned 12 hitters while allowing only one run on five hits in eight innings as Neptunus beat Mr. Cocker-Hague (13-20) 5-1. Benjamin DILLE was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and both Railey LEGITO and Lennart KOSTER each had two hits.
Neptunus routed the Almere Magpies (11-25) 13-2 three days later as Diegomar MARKWELL pitched seven strong innings allowing only two runs on eight hits with six strikeouts. Leadoff hitter Johnny BALENTINA went 4-for-6 while LEGITO and Evert Jan ‘t HOEN each had three hits for the Dutch powerhouse.
Dutch Major League co-leader Corendon Kinheim (27-7) beat ADO (12-21) 2-0 behind an impressive outing from pitcher Vaughan HARRIS who tossed a six innings of one-hit baseball. Danny ROMBLEY was 3-for-5 and relievers Duko JANSEN, Jimmy van der VELDT, and Michiel VAN KAMPEN combined to pitch three shutout innings.
Nick STUIFBERGEN tossed a three-hit shutout for 7.2 innings to lead Amsterdam (20-14) to a 5-0 victory over Sparta/Feyenoord (12-20). Pim WALSMA fanned four hitters in 1.1 innings to notch the save for the playoff-bound Pirates.
Top hitter Fausto ALVAREZ was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while teammate Roderick SIMON had two hits and a pair of RBI’s.
