Lithuanian pitcher Doviydas Neverauskas is making history again. After being promoted to Triple-A by the Pittsburgh Pirates the 23-year-old right-hander has been selected for the annual All-Stars Futures Game, which takes place during the All-Star week in San Diego, California. Neverauskas is stepping in the footsteps of Germany’s Max Kepler who was selected last year, but eventually couldn’t play due to an injury.
Neverauskas moved to the bullpen last year and since then is quickly moving through the Pirates farm system. He started the 2016 season in Double-A. After going 1-0 with a save and an ERA of 2.57 with 32 strikeouts and 11 walks in 28 innings he was promoted to Triple-A, where he has an ERA of 3.18 in six appearances. The Futures Game is played on July 10 at 4pm local time.
