Shortly before the opening weekend, DOOR NEPTUNUS acquired utility man Derick Francisca from the L&D AMSTERDAM PIRATES. He played for ALMERE’90 in 2007, but returned to his club of 2006 this winter. He appeared in several exhibitions for the PIRATES this offseason and even played at the Hudson John Tournament last weekend.
However NEPTUNUS reached an agreement with the player and the club and obtained him a couple of days ago. The transaction already is confirmed and approved by the Dutch Baseball Federation and he is eligibly to play in the opener on Saturday against another former club of him, the MEDIAMONKS RCH.
Last season Francisca batted .331 (OBP .356/SLG .444) with 23 runs scored and 17 RBI for the MAGPIES. In 81 career games in the Dutch Major League he has a batting average of .334 (.365/.443) with four homeruns, 43 runs and 31 RBI, along with 13 stolen bases.
